Certification

Certified AI Practitioner (CAIP)

Gain practical AI skills and validate your applied AI expertise

The Certified AI Practitioner (CAIP) exam is a vendor-neutral, entry-level applied AI certification for students and professionals who use AI systems in their daily study or work. It focuses on practical, no-code workflows with large language models (LLMs), generative media tools, no-code automation platforms, and AI-assisted data analysis.

CAIP is designed for AI “power users” who design and run AI-augmented workflows, not for machine learning engineers or data scientists building models from scratch. It validates that you can use AI responsibly and effectively to support research, communication, automation, and decision-making.

The certification is issued by the AI Professional Institute (AIPROI), a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing high-quality AI education worldwide.

Who should get certified

CAIP is ideal for candidates who regularly use AI tools as part of their study, research, or professional work and want to validate and formalize these skills.

  • University students and early-career professionals across all disciplines (Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM, Business, Arts).
  • Knowledge workers, analysts, consultants, and project managers who use AI to research, summarize, and prepare presentations or reports.
  • Educators, trainers, and instructional designers integrating AI into teaching, learning materials, assessment, and student support.
  • Content creators, marketing and communications specialists using AI-generated text, visuals, and media in a responsible way.
  • Operations, support and coordination roles using AI and no-code tools to automate routine tasks and workflows.

The exam is not intended for machine learning engineers or data scientists specializing in model development, or other advanced technical roles that require deep knowledge of algorithms, architectures, or mathematics.

What does CAIP cover

The CAIP exam assesses applied, vendor-neutral skills across six domains. All questions focus on practical scenarios and conceptual understanding rather than coding or advanced mathematics.

  • Prompt Engineering & Core LLM Literacy – designing effective prompts, understanding how LLMs generate text, and recognizing their limitations (for example, hallucinations and outdated knowledge).
  • AI for Study & Research Workflows – using AI to explore topics, summarize and synthesize sources, support note-taking, and manage citations while maintaining academic integrity.
  • Generative Media (Images, Video, Audio) – creating prompts for generative media tools and integrating outputs responsibly into presentations, teaching materials, and communication.
  • Agents, Automation & Personal Knowledge Bases – configuring no-code automation workflows and retrieval-augmented (RAG-style) personal knowledge bases, including a conceptual understanding of embeddings, vector search, and context windows.
  • Data & Evaluation Literacy – using AI to explore small datasets and understanding, at a high level, how machine learning models are trained and evaluated using metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1.
  • Ethics & Responsible AI – identifying risks such as bias, privacy, and misinformation, and applying responsible-use principles and policies in realistic academic and workplace scenarios.
Why get certified?

Earning the CAIP certification helps you:

  • Prove that you can responsibly and effectively apply AI tools in real study and work scenarios.
  • Stand out in the job market with an independent, vendor-neutral validation of your applied AI skills.
  • Bridge the gap between non-technical roles and technical AI teams by understanding key AI concepts and workflows.
  • Build confidence to design AI-augmented workflows for research, communication, automation, and decision-making.
  • Pursue further AIPROI certifications, such as Certified AI Expert (CAIE), as part of your long-term AI career path.
How to Get Certified?
  1. Build your skills
Complete the Applied Artificial Intelligence course aligned with CAIP, or prepare through self-directed study and hands-on practice with AI tools.
  2. Register for the exam
When registration opens, schedule your online proctored exam via the AIPROI Exam Portal or an AIPROI Approved Exam Provider.
  3. Pass the exam
Achieve the passing score and meet all exam and identity verification requirements to earn your Certified AI Practitioner (CAIP) credential.
Preparation resources

To prepare for the CAIP exam, we recommend the following:

  • Applied Artificial Intelligence – the official AIPROI course aligned with the CAIP domains. Delivery may be instructor-led or self-paced, depending on the provider.
  • Practice with at least one conversational AI system, one generative media tool, one no-code automation platform, and one RAG-style personal knowledge base tool.
  • Use official CAIP preparation materials (such as the Student Guide and Official Practice Exam) when available.

Focus on mastering concepts and workflows rather than memorizing the interface of any specific tool or platform.
